A 62-year-old male presents with a history of discomfort
in the upper abdomen, on the right hand side. He is a diet controlled
diabetic, not on any medication. He smoked 10 cigarettes a day and used 14
units of alcohol per week.
On examination he was found to have an enlarged liver
which was hard in consistency, the edge was craggy and the surface irregular.
The spleen was not enlarged
Investigations
Hb 7.5 g/dL
WBC 22 x109/L
Platelets 100 x109/L
The blood film was reported as showing normoblasts,
myeloblasts, myelocytes and metamyleocytes.
