A 52 year old male presents with a history of yellow
discolouration of the skin, itch and passage of dark urine and pale stools.
He is known to have hypertension, diabetes mellitus and
schizophrenia and is on multiple drugs
Clinical examination reveals jaundice and excoriations but no
other positive physical findings
Abdominal ultrasound does not show dilated bile ducts
Alanine aminotransferase 120 U/L
Alkaline phosphatase 386 U/L
Bilirubin 132 µmol/L
