A 42 year old male has been referred to the clinic by his GP as the
patient was having epigastric discomfort in relation to meals. In addition the
patient complained of loss of weight and loose motions. The patient had been
commenced on omeprazole 40 mgs per day by his GP. He was not on any other
medication.
Clinical examination was unremarkable. The patient underwent and
endoscopy which showed multiple gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers. Biopsies
did not show evidence of malignancy and no Helicobacter pylori organisms were
seen
In this patient your next course of action would be:

Increase omeprazole to 80 mgs daily
b)
Do a secretin test
c)
Check fasting gastrin levels
d)
Stop omeprazole and check gastrin levels
e)
Arrange a MRI
